Nothing here is in force
ShelfCheck is not in service, so there is no agreement between you and it. No terms of service and no privacy policy have been written. This page says what is actually true today and retracts what it used to say instead.
What this site does with data
- Product analytics — only if you accept
- Optional PostHog analytics starts only after you choose Accept All. Essential Only leaves it off. Reopen Cookie preferences in the footer to change or withdraw your choice. Page and referrer URLs exclude query strings and fragments. Automatic interaction capture and PostHog session recording are disabled.
- Error reports
- When a page fails to render, an error report is sent to an error-tracking service so the fault can be found. It carries the fault and the page it happened on. Session replay is switched off except on an error.
- Request logs
- The host that serves this site keeps ordinary web-server request logs, as every web host does.
- Nothing else
- There is no account, no profile, no photograph, no location, no device fingerprint and no payment detail — not because they are protected, but because there is no backend for any of it to be sent to. The sign-in page posts a development stub token to a local endpoint and provisions nothing.

The footer links to /privacy and /terms on every page. Both currently arrive here, because that is where the honest answer is.
Withdrawn from this page
- Withdrawn:
A terms-of-service agreement said to bind anyone using the platform, the mobile application and the website - Withdrawn:
A contributor programme paying micropayments for shelf photographs, with a minimum cashout and a gift-card bonus - Withdrawn:
Client subscriptions billed monthly on auto-renew - Withdrawn:
AI analysis of submitted photographs, and fraud detection by perceptual hashing, GPS verification and trust scoring - Withdrawn:
An irrevocable worldwide licence over photographs submitted by contributors - Withdrawn:
A twelve-month photo retention schedule and a thirty-day account-deletion window - Withdrawn:
A named payment processor, and three named sub-processors receiving shelf data
A fabricated legal document is worse than a missing one: a reader cannot tell which parts were drafted and which were imagined. All of it is retracted rather than edited.
On record
No contributor was ever paid, no photograph was ever submitted, no subscription was ever billed and no model has ever read anything. The document that described all four was never in force, because none of it existed to be governed.
What has not been written yet
- Terms of service
- Not drafted. There is no service to set terms for: nothing can be bought, no account can be opened and nothing can be submitted. When something operates, terms will be published at /terms before it does.
- Privacy policy
- Not drafted. A real policy has to name the operating entity, the processors it uses and how long each thing is kept — none of which can honestly be written for a system that has not been built. It will be published at /privacy.
- Data requests
- Cookie preferences lets you withdraw analytics consent, which stops further browser capture. Withdrawal does not delete events already received. Retention and deletion workflows have not been verified by this analytics release.
On record
Three documents that do not exist. None of them has a date, and none of them will be announced before it is written.
